£30m flop striker allowed to leave Chelsea

Saturday, August 29, 2009

Chelsea have given the green light for misfit striker Andriy Shevchenko to leave Stamford Bridge.

The £30 million man returned to Chelsea over the summer after a frustrating season on loan with AC Milan last term.

However, he has been unable to break into the Blues side this term and his prospects of regular football at West London appear bleak.

Shevchenko held talks with Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti earlier this week and was told he could not be guaranteed first-team football

And according to The Sun, the 32-year-old will be given a free transfer by the Blues so he will get the chance to revive his career at old club Dynamo Kyiv.

The Ukraine international made his name with Kyiv at the start of his career before heading to Milan in 1999.

He enjoyed seven successful years with the Rossoneri but has struggled to play to the same level since joining Chelsea in 2006.
