Germany routed minnows Azerbaijan 4-0 to remain in control of Group 4.
Michael Ballack opened Germany's account from the penalty spot after Lukas Podolski was brought down by Samir Abbasov.
Miroslav Klose, who came off the bench at the start of the second half, then netted a brace within 15 minutes of returning to the pitch.
Podolski made it 4-0 in the 70th minute as he fired home a ball headed down by Ballack.
