Serbia strengthened their chance of earning a direct spot in next year's World Cup after playing out a 1-1 draw against France in Belgrade.

Nenad Milijaš gave Serbia the lead in the 14th minute from the penalty spot after France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris appeared to have brought down Nikola Žigić in the area. Lloris was given a red card, and was replaced by reserve goalie Steve Mandanda with forward André-Pierre Gignac being subsituted.

Their lead did not last long, though, as Thierry Henry stepped up to level the scoreline on the half-hour mark.
