Portsmouth suffered a seventh successive Premier League defeat as Everton managed to scrape a 1-0 victory at Fratton Park.
Chances were created at both ends but Everton's victory was clinched three minutes before half-time when Louis Saha seized on an error by Younes Kaboul to slam home past David James.
