Cesc FÃ bregas emerged off the bench and bagged a brace as Arsenal beat Aston Villa 3-0 to keep the pressure on Manchester United.
Having replaced DenÃlson in the 57th minute, the Spaniard broke the deadlock on 65 minutes by curling a free-kick beyond goalkeeper Brad Friedel's reach, then rounded off a perfect counter-attack with 10 minutes to go.
FÃ bregas, though, appeared to have aggravated his hamstring problem and was replaced by Aaron Ramsey for the closing stages.
The Gunners added the icing on the cake in injury time when Abou Diaby was allowed to run through unchecked before curling in a low effort from the edge of the area.
