Serie A: Juventus 1-2 Catania

Monday, December 21, 2009

Juventus crashed to their third successive defeat as they were beaten 2-1 at home by struggling Catania.

Jorge Martinez fired the visitors into the lead from the penalty spot in the 24th minute after Tiago fouled Nicolas Spolli, despite being ordered to retake it for a second time.

Hasan Salihamidžić brought Juventus level on 66 minutes when he reached a loose ball in the area first to fire home the equaliser.

But it was the Sicilian side who had the last laugh with Gianvito Plasmati setting up Mariano Izco for the winner three minutes from time with a breakaway goal to edge off the foot of the table.
