Euro 2012 qualifier: France 2-0 Romania

Sunday, October 10, 2010

France left it late to overcome Romania 2-0 in their Euro 2012 qualifier in Paris.

The game looked to be heading for a goalless draw until substitute Loïc Rémy broke the deadlock with a low shot into the bottom corner seven minutes from time.

France secured the points deep into stoppage time when debutant Dimitri Payet showed great touch and balance to jink inside the area and his perfectly cushioned pass allowed fellow substitute Yoann Gourcuff to thump the ball in.

Lineups:

France: Hugo Lloris; Anthony Réveillère, Adil Rami, Philippe Mexès, Gaël Clichy; Samir Nasri (Yoann Gourcuff, 73), Alou Diarra, Yann M'Vila; Mathieu Valbuena (Loïc Rémy, 68), Karim Benzema (Dimitri Payet, 87), Florent Malouda
