AC Milan confirm Antonio Cassano signing

Thursday, December 23, 2010

AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has confirmed that a deal has been reached which will see Sampdoria forward Antonio Cassano join the Serie A leaders.

Sampdoria and Milan reportedly reached an agreement for the transfer of the Italy international to the San Siro on Monday.

According toLa Gazzetta dello Sport, Cassano has put pen to paper on a four-year contract after agreeing to pay a third of the €5 million sell-on clause to his former club Real Madrid, which forms part of his existing deal with Sampdoria.

However, the transfer will only be made official once the Serie A transfer window reopens on January 2.

Cassano will, though, be allowed to join his new club at a training camp in Dubai later this month.

"Yes. We will be signing Cassano," Berlusconi confirmed to Adnkronos.

Milan's capture of Cassano will add further firepower to their already fearsome frontline, which includes Zlatan Ibrahimović, Robinho and Alexandre Pato.

Berlusconi added: "Cassano is an excellent buy for Milan. I would give (Milan vice-president Adriano) Galliani 10 out of 10 because he is performing miracles."
