La Liga: Valencia 4-3 Málaga

Sunday, January 23, 2011

Valencia needed an injury-time winner from Aritz Aduriz to secure a 4-3 home victory over a spirited nine-man Málaga side.

Málaga took a deserved early lead through Salomón Rondón but, soon after, Martín Demichelis was shown a straight red card after his trailing leg caught Juan Mata, who blasted the spot-kick into the bottom corner.

Then, Rondón restored Málaga's lead with his second in the 35th minute but was pegged back by a Roberto Soldado goal eight minutes into the second half.

After Hélder Rosário saw red for Málaga in the 65th minute, Éver Banega handed Valencia the lead for the first time in the match only for Júlio Baptista remarkably evened things up once more.

Brave Málaga looked to have snatched a deserved point only for Aduriz to tap home late on to steal the points for third-placed Valencia.
