Serie A: AC Milan 3-0 Inter Milan

Sunday, April 3, 2011

AC Milan claimed local bragging rights and pole position in the Serie A title race after beating Inter Milan 3-0 in the 275th Derby della Madonnina at the San Siro.

Milan opened the scoring with just 45 seconds on the clock as Alexandre Pato slotted home the rebound after Júlio César had parried Robinho's shot.

Inter's task became much harder early in the second half when Cristian Chivu was shown a straight red card for pulling Pato as he raced through on goal.

And Milan quickly made their numerical advantage count with with Pato nodding Ignazio Abate's cross into an open goal in the 62nd minute.

Substitute Antonio Cassano made it three with a penalty one minute from time after being fouled by Javier Zanetti, but there was still time for Cassano to be sent off for two bookable offenses.
