Premier League: Man City 3-1 Newcastle

Sunday, November 20, 2011

Two defensive errors from Ryan Taylor helped Premier League leaders Manchester City to a 3-1 win over previously unbeaten Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium.

City went ahead on 41 minutes when Taylor was penalised for blocking Yaya Touré's snapshot with his arm and Mario Balotelli stepped up to convert from the spot.

The second arrived just moments later and it was another error from Taylor as he failed to deal with a Samir Nasri through ball and Micah Richards was there to dispossess him and fire home.

And the tie was wrapped up with just over a quarter of an hour remaining as Sergio Agüero converted another spot-kick after Hatem Ben Arfa had sent Richards tumbling in the box.

Substitute Dan Gosling pulled back a consolation for Newcastle, but City were not to be denied as they maintained their unbeaten start to the season.
