Ex-director labels Barcelona's Spain internationals as 'mercenaries'

Tuesday, July 3, 2012

Alfons Godall, who was Joan Laporta's vice-president between 2003 and 2010, called Barcelona's Spain international players "mercenaries" for playing and winning with Spain.

Although there were seven Barça players in the Spain squad - Xavi, Andrés Iniesta, Gerard Piqué, Víctor Valdés, Cesc Fàbregas, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, Godall did not want the Selección to win.

Which means: "Barça's style, and its players – who are stateless mercenaries – will make Spain win. We'll screw ourselves over! It's our own fault for not having our own State!"

In a previous tweet he already made it clear that he wanted the national team to lose.
