Mario Mandžukić scored a spectacular bicycle kick on his return to the Volkswagen Arena as Bayern Munich claimed a hard-fought 2-0 win at VfL Wolfsburg on Friday.
Both coaches made changes to their starting line-ups, with Mandžukić and Wolfsburg's Ivica Olić each handed starts against their respective former employers.
The first half seemed destined to end in a stalemate, but a moment of magic from Mandžukić in the 36th minute finally broke the deadlock.
Toni Kroos pumped a free-kick towards the far post, where Bastian Schweinsteiger nodded back to Mandžukić for a superb overhead kick that left Diego Benaglio rooted to the spot.
The Croatian striker, though, refused to celebrate his spectacular opener out of respect for his former club.
Arjen Robben then came off the bench to seal the victory in stoppage time with the injury-plagued winger's first goal of the season.
