Football game halted after parachutist lands on pitch

An English Conference Premier match between Salisbury City and Chester was interrupted last weekend after a rogue parachutist landed in the middle of the pitch.

To the amazement of the players and the 1,000 fans inside the Raymond McEnhill Stadium, the skydiver made the dramatic appearance in the second half.

The airborne invader then calmly packed up his parachute and left as players from both sides looked on, amazed and confused at what just happened while the crowd cheered and clapped.

There was no explanation for the unexpected visitor but Chester defender Danny Higginbotham was left bemused by the incident.
