The visitors took the lead through Stefan Aigner in the 11th minute, but Ivica Olić levelled the scores on 69 minutes after a fantastic pass from Kevin De Bruyne.

And with a minute of normal time remaining, the Wolves won it in quite sensational style.

Naldo was wearing the captain's armband for the first time and he certainly stepped up to the mark for the occasion, scoring his eighth long-range strike in the Bundesliga.

The Brazilian defender brought the ball out of defence and unleashed a rocket from all of 35 yards to leave Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp grasping at thin air.

"I don't think we even need to discuss the 2-1 winner just before the end," Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking said afterwards. "I was surprised by that myself.

"We all know that Naldo has a powerful shot and he really caught hold of that one perfectly."
