Manuel Neuer mocks 'underpants model' Cristiano Ronaldo | inside World Soccer

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer isn't overly confident of winning the Ballon d'Or because, unlike Cristiano Ronaldo, he's "not some guy who poses in his underpants".

Germany's World Cup winning goalkeeper Neuer is the only other candidate who has any chance of beating the Real Madrid star to a successive Ballon d'Or.

The 28-year-old, though, suggested during an interview with German magazine Kicker that his non-glamorous image off the pitch may have an impact on his chances of winning the accolade.

Asked about Ronaldo and the effect of his image on Ballon d'Or voting, Neuer said: "I am a sportsman, not a brand ambassador, besides being the first goalkeeper of adidas. I'm not some guy who poses in his underpants.

"I do not like the red carpet, I prefer the green pitch. I feel better on the field trying to improve my game."

However, just two months ago Neuer happily stripped down to his boxers and have his dimensions taken for a wax model of him at the Madame Tussauds in Berlin.
