Following the news that Ruud van Nistelorooy is set to miss the rest of the campaign, Real Madrid are determined to buy a new striker to replace the Dutchman.

Van Nistelrooy is expected to be out of action between six and nine months after he underwent surgery to repair his damaged knee.

It’s a crushing blow to Los Merengues and as a result, they are now in search of a possible replacement.

Many names have been linked with the club in recent weeks and at the top of their list is Carlos Tévez, who apparently concerned about his future at Manchester United.

Real have also been reported keen on Inter Milan striker Hernán Crespo as he is not cup-tied in the Champions League and is almost certain to leave the Nerazzurri in January following another falling out with boss José Mourinho.

It is also rumoured that the Spanish giants are also interested in Chelsea's Didier Drogba, Diego Milito of Genoa, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar from Ajax and Stuttgart hitman Mario Gómez.
