Inter Milan superstar Zlatan Ibrahimović stole the headlines ahead of next Saturday's clash with Juventus by scoring both goals in his side's 2-0 win at Palermo.

Their seventh match unbeaten means Inter will remain at the top of Serie A with 27 points, three ahead of Juventus, which routed Genoa 4-1 on Thursday to temporarily join Inter atop the table.

José Mourinho moved away from his preferred 4-3-3 formation and lined up a 4-1-3-2 with Julio Cruz joining Ibrahimović up front.

After a scoreless first half, Ibrahimović opened the scoring less than 30 seconds into the second half when he curled his shot into the far corner beyond the reach of Alberto Fontana and in off the far post.

The Swedish talisman added his second of the night and seventh of the season on 62 minutes with a thunderbolt free-kick - which the ball traveled at an estimated 77 mph.

Ibrahimović almost completed his hat-trick from the same position he had scored his first in stoppage time, but Fontana made an excellent diving save to deny him.

The victory was Inter's third consecutive success while Palermo fell to their fourth defeat in the last seven matches.
