Valencia reject Barça bid for Villa

Wednesday, December 24, 2008

Barcelona might have more than half of La Liga title in their pocket, but they already planning to strengthen the team for next season.

According to Marca, Spain international David Villa is the Catalans' number one target, but Valencia have rejected a €35 million offer for him.

Barça have been in contact with Valencia president Vicente Soriano, but have seen the initial offer rejected, with El Ché not willing to negotiate for less than €40 million - the price they have valued for the striker.

Besides his talent and skill, another reason that Barcelona apparently want to sign El Guaje is to give a morale blow to Real Madrid, who tried to sign him in the summer but were rejected.

That time, Los Blancos offered slightly over €40 million euro after they failed to sign Cristiano Ronaldo, who decided to stay at Manchester United.
