Madin Mohammed the next Zinedine Zidane?

Friday, February 20, 2009

Eight-year-old Madin Mohammed has been tipped to become the new Zinedine Zidane after videos of his fancy footwork became a massive online hit with over a million views.

The starlet, who was only six when the video was filmed, has attracted the attention of top level talent scouts, with Chelsea and Real Madrid among clubs said to be keeping tabs on his progress.

Madin's family moved to France from Algeria when he was three and has reportedly been signed up to a scholarship by the French football association.

The Algerian link has brought inevitable comparisons between the boy and the legendary Zidane.

Christian Lazaoui, president of Roubaix, Madin's local club, told The Sun: "He has an amazing talent. He plays every day and has a great passion for football.

"He can cross the ball, control it, swerve, pass between the legs — he is spectacular with the ball... he really is magic with it."

Video clips of his performances have already been viewed far more than a million times online at YouTube.

He'd also had his 15 minutes of fame in his home country after appearing on French channel TF1's Téléfoot programme.
