Wayne Rooney expecting first child

Monday, March 30, 2009

England and Manchester United ace Wayne Rooney is expecting his first child.

His wife, Coleen, is three months pregnant after they began trying for a baby at Christmas, The Sun reports.

Wayne, 23, and Coleen, 22, are said to be "delighted, excited and absolutely thrilled."

The baby is due in September and the couple are having a specially-converted nursery installed at the couple's £3.5 million mansion in Prestbury, Cheshire, which has a cinema, gym and £30,000 of security.

Wayne and Coleen's spokesman refused to comment, but a friend of the couple said of the news: "Coleen and Wayne couldn't be happier.

"Their families are the biggest thing in their lives and Wayne has always said he wants at least three or four children. Coleen has always maintained she wants a family when the time is right.

"They don't know whether it is a boy or a girl — they don't mind either way."

Industry insiders predicted that baby Rooney could net its parents £5 million — if they chose to sign the tot up for publicity deals.

The first picture of the Rooneys' baby could fetch as much as £1million - a new UK record, even eclipsing that paid for photos of Victoria and David Beckham's baby Brooklyn.

Other options include a pregnancy reality show.
