Maradona: Pelé lost his virginity to a man

Saturday, March 28, 2009

Diego Maradona has responded to claims made by Pelé that he is "a bad example," by saying that the Brazilian lost his virginity to a man.

Pelé claimed last week that both Robinho and Ronaldo have taken drugs, and that Maradona is not a good role model because of his drug abuse past.

The Argentine coach was asked for his thoughts on these statements at a press conference on Saturday, and he did not hold back.

"What do you want me to say? He lost his virginity to a man," Maradona said.

"I don't know if that's a good example or a bad one."

This response prompted plenty of laughter from many of the journalists who attended the conference.

It’s not the first time Maradona coach has made the claims.

In 2000, Pelé denied an accusation by Maradona that he had had his first sexual experience at the age of 14 with a coach.

Pelé, who has three children from his first marriage and 12-year-old twins with his current wife Assíria, claimed Maradona started the rumour out of jealousy.
