Argentina crushed Venezuela 4-0 at the Monumental Stadium to give Diego Maradona a victory on his first official match as the Albiceleste's coach.

Lionel Messi put Argentina in front after 26 minutes with a left-foot shot to the far post following a one-two with Carlos Tévez.

Maradona's men extended the lead two minutes after the break when Tévez met a Messi cross with a well-timed volley.

Five minutes later Maxi Rodríguez added a third goal with another volley, which this time was deflected into the back of the net from a Venezuelan defender.

Sergio Agüero completed the scoring in the 73rd minute when he beat a couple of defenders before firing the ball past a hapless Renny Vega in the Venezuela goal.

Argentina now stand second on 19 points from 11 games, four points behind leaders Paraguay.
