Ronaldo and Ronaldinho were not included the list of 23 players named by Brazil coach Carlos Dunga for two upcoming World Cup qualifiers and the Confederations Cup.

Many fans and local media were hoping to see the three-time FIFA World Player of the Year Ronaldo on the list.

The 32-year-old striker is thriving with Brazilian club Corinthians after recovering from the third serious knee injury of his career.

He scored 10 goals since his return in March as he helped the club win the São Paulo state championship and reach the Copa do Brasil semi-finals.

"Ronaldo is returning from an injury," said Dunga, who played with the Phenomenon in the 1994 and 1998 World Cups.

"I don't even think he would feel comfortable in the national team right now. He wants to be summoned only when he is ready."

Meanwhile, Ronaldinho wasn't called up because he was going though a "difficult moment" at AC Milan, where he has been confined to a secondary role.

Dunga added: "He needs to play more. Hopefully next season he will find his space and play more matches, returning to the form that we all know."

Ronaldinho's Milan teammates, Kaká and Alexandre Pato, will be in charge of leading Brazil in the upcoming matches, along with Manchester City star Robinho and Sevilla hitman Luís Fabiano.

The Seleção are playing Uruguay and Paraguay, on June 6 and 10, in the South American World Cup qualifiers before flying to South Africa to compete in the Confederations Cup from June 14 to 28.

In the Confederations Cup, Brazil are in Group B along with Egypt, the United States and Italy. They debut against Egypt on June 15 in Bloemfontein.
