Why Carlos Tévez leaving Manchester United

Sunday, June 21, 2009

Kia Joorabchian, Carlos Tévez's agent, claims that his client had to walk away from Manchester United because he didn't feel part of the family at Old Trafford.

United released a statement earlier on Saturday confirming that the 25-year-old striker would be leaving Old Trafford after a two-year loan spell at the club.

The Red Devils had agreed to pay the £25.5 million fee required to secure Tévez's services permanently and offered the striker a lucrative five-year contract.

But in a decision that has stunned Sir Alex Ferguson, Tévez rejected the proposal and sensationally quit United.

"We never asked United for more money in the two years Carlos was on loan there, and we certainly didn't ask for more after they made their contract offer 10 days ago," Joorabchian said in The Sun.

"It was a good offer, but Carlos felt that they hadn't made the offer to sign him in the last two years.

"Manchester United had two years to make a decision about Carlos. If Cristiano Ronaldo or Wayne Rooney were out of contract in January, would they have waited two years to sign them?

"Carlos made it clear he didn't feel part of the family at United.

"He wanted to go out with his head held high, and he will walk into his next club with his head held high.

"We will listen to offers from all interested clubs and then decide on the future. It will be Carlos' decision and his alone. But I don't see that decision being made before early July."
