Leonardo confirmed as new Milan coach

AC Milan have named Leonardo as their new coach, just minutes after Chelsea announced the appointment of Carlo Ancelotti.

The 39-year-old Leonardo, who played 96 games for the Rossoneri, has recently been working as Milan's technical director but will take over in the hot-seat next season.

"Leonardo will be the new Milan coach. He will be officially presented Monday at midday," vice-president Adriano Galliani told Rai.

Leonardo has never been a coach in his career but is set to attend a UEFA A course this summer.

"It's a special day for me," the former Brazil international told a press conference. "I dreamed of becoming a footballer but not a trainer.

"A lot of affection links me to Milan otherwise I would not have accepted. It's an important adventure.

"Now is the time to build, the basis is humility and the desire to work."
