Kerlon officially signs for Inter Milan

Wednesday, July 8, 2009

Inter Milan have officially signed highly-rated Brazilian youngster Kerlon on a three-year contract.

Kerlon, whose full name is Kerlon Moura Souza, was signed by Inter from Cruzeiro last summer, but the Nerazzurri were unable to register him as they had already filled their quota of non-EU players.

Therefore, the Italian giants sent the 21-year-old to Chievo on loan, a ploy that they had already used in the past for Júlio César and Victor Obinna.

However, the youngster's campaign was badly disrupted by injuries, appearing only four times in Serie A.

Kerlon made his name at the 2005 South American U-17 Championship in Venezuela where he finished top scorer with eight goals in seven games.

He became a YouTube sensation and earned his nickname Foquinha – the little seal – because of his bizarre dribbling technique whereby he runs while nodding the ball in the air.
