Real Madrid won the race for Olympique Lyon star Karim Benzema, according to the player's agent.
The gifted 21-year-old has been the subject of intense speculation for the last few weeks, with Manchester United also credited with an interest in the striker.
But it now seems Real have stolen a march on the Red Devils after agreeing a deal in the region of €35 million with Lyon.
Benzema's agent, Karim Djaziri, has told French radio that a deal has been agreed between the two clubs and that only personal terms and a medical need to be completed to see the move go through.
He said: "Benzema will sign for Real Madrid tonight.
"For the moment nothing is official on the side of Lyon but he will join Madrid in exchange for £30 million plus bonuses.
"In the next few hours some details need to be agreed between the player and Real Madrid, in particular his wages and terms of the contract."
Benzema would be Los Merengues' fourth summer signing following the arrivals of Kaká, Cristiano Ronaldo and Raúl Albiol.
