Marko Arnautović joins Inter Milan from FC Twente

Thursday, August 6, 2009

Marko Arnautović has completed his long-awaited move to Inter Milan from FC Twente in a deal with a very odd clause.

The 20-year-old arrives at the San Siro on a one-year loan with the Nerazzurri given an option to buy the Austrian after he has completed ten appearances for the Italian champions.

The price for a permanent transfer is reported to be around €9 million, plus a bonus should they qualify for this season’s Champions League.

"FC Twente and Inter Milan have agreed concerning the conditions for the departure of Marko Arnautović to Inter Milan," read a statement on Twente's website.

"Arnautović is loaned for one season to Inter Milan, where he will remain definitively if he has been active in a certain number of games.

"If during the hiring period the option to buy is not activated, Arnautović returns to FC Twente, where the player has a contract for two years and has agreed with Twente an option for another year."

The move was set to be officially announced some time back, but Inter then re-negotiated the deal in light of a stress fracture to Arnautović's right foot.
