Olympiakos overcame AZ Alkmaar 1-0 in the opening round of the Champions League at Karaiskaki Stadium.

In a game of few chances, Olympiakos grabbed the only goal through their first shot on target as Vassilis Torosidis headed in a cross from Jaouad Zairi in the 79th minute.
