Tottenham Hotspur leapt up to fourth place in the Premier League after seeing off Wigan Athletic 3-0 at the DW Stadium.
Jermain Defoe opened the scoring on 27 minutes as he turned home a cross by Gareth Bale, though television replays showed him to be in an offside position.
Substitute Roman Pavlyuchenko added the second in the 85th minute from a pass by Luka Modrić and a couple of minutes into stoppage time he hooked home the rebound after Chris Kirkland had blocked his point-blank header.
