Valencia moved six points clear of third-placed Real Mallorca with only 10 games remaining thanks to a 1-0 win over Málaga at the Mestalla.

David Villa scored the lone goal after just 13 minutes as the Spain striker swept home from close-range after he was set up by Juan Mata.
