Inter Milan striker Mario Balotelli has released a formal apology for his recent behaviour on the club's official website.

The highly-rated striker last played for Inter on March 7, when he started in a goalless draw against Genoa, and has been out of favour ever since.

Balotelli, who has been linked with a move to AC Milan, reportedly infuriated Nerazzurri coach José Mourinho by donning a Milan jersey during a television show and admitting he was a boyhood Rossoneri fan.

The 19-year-old has now responded to Mourinho's calls for an apology and will hope to be recalled to the side.

In a statement posted on Inter's website, Balotelli wrote: "I am sorry for the situation that has been created recently.

"I am the first to suffer because I love football and would like to play and now I wait in silence to be able to return to being useful to my team.

"I don't want to have to think about the past anymore, but instead look to the future and the tasks ahead of me, ensuring that I am ready for them."
