Thursday, July 22, 2010

Brazilian football was shamed on Wednesday night after Goiás players and coach were involved in a fight with reporters following their 2-2 draw with Vitória in a Brazilian championship match.

Trouble broke out after the final whistle as coach Émerson Leão headed straight to the referee to protest about Vitória's 89th minute equaliser, which he said was in an offside position.

Touchline radio reporters attempted to broadcast the conversation, which angered the coach and caused him and Goiás players attacked some of the journalists with Rafael Moura caught punching reporter Roque Santos twice in the face and drawing blood.

Reports later confirmed that Leão, Moura, Marcão and Romerito were escorted to the police station after the incidents at the Barradão Stadium in Salvador.
