How David Beckham influenced Thierry Henry move to MLS

Thierry Henry has revealed that he had consulted David Beckham over his transatlantic switch to the New York Red Bulls.

The French striker moved to the Major League Soccer last week from Barcelona, but not before taking advice from the former England captain who also traded Spain for the United States when he left Real Madrid for the Los Angeles Galaxy.

"I did approach David on my move," Henry told reporters.

"He never said anything negative to me about the MLS and told me he enjoys everything in the game here.

"I respect Becks. He has been a great guy to me. He encouraged me to play here."
