Pepe Reina was left in despair when his last-minute howler gifted Arsenal a 1-1 draw against 10-man Liverpool at Anfield.
Liverpool were left facing an uphill battle when new signing Joe Cole was shown a straight red card in first-half stoppage-time for a reckless challenge on Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny.
Arsenal expected to take charge with their man advantage but David Ngog's thumping drive within 60 seconds of the restart stunned the visitors and appeared set to give Roy Hodgson three points in his first Premier League game in charge.
However, in the final minute, Reds keeper Reina failed to deal with Tomáš Rosický's left-wing cross and, after the ball hit Marouane Chamakh and bounced back off the post, the Spaniard spilled it over his own line.
