Debutant James Milner created Manchester City's first two goals in a convincing 3-0 home victory over Liverpool.

City were rarely troubled by the visitors at Eastlands, and Milner was on hand to set up the first goal, pulling the ball back for Gareth Barry to side-foot beyond Pepe Reina in the 13th minute.

Milner then crossed for Micah Richards to head towards goal for City's second on 52 minutes, with Carlos Tévez getting the last touch, and the Argentine striker made it 3-0 from the penalty spot in the 68th minute.
