Luís Fabiano and Frédéric Kanouté each scored twice as 10-man Sevilla beat Athletic Bilbao 4-3 in an incident-packed encounter.
Two goals from Fabiano and a Kanouté penalty looked to have Sevilla cruising to victory at 3-0 midway through the second half.
But the visitors were given a lifeline by the sending-off of Sevilla left-back Fernando Navarro in the 65th minute and Fernando Llorente struck twice in four minutes to make it 3-2 in the 77th minute.
The frantic close saw Kanouté convert his second penalty of the match, which was awarded in highly-debatable circumstances, in the 79th minute before Igor Gabilondo headed home Bilbao's third deep into injury time.
