Table of Contents
Chelsea suffered their heaviest home defeat in over eight years as Sunderland saw off the reigning champions 3-0 at Stamford Bridge.
Nedum Onuoha gave Sunderland the lead in the late stages of the first half when he waltzed around two defenders before slipping a left-footed shot past Petr Čech for his first goal for the Black Cats.
Chelsea's afternoon got worse in the 52nd minute as Asamoah Gyan finished off a flowing move involving Boudewijn Zenden, Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson by curling his finish around Čech.
And Sunderland made it three in the 87th minute when a wayward Ashley Cole back-pass gifted Welbeck a simple tap-in.
