Premier League: Chelsea 3-3 Aston Villa

Monday, January 3, 2011

Ciaran Clark scored a stoppage-time equalizer against Chelsea to give Aston Villa a 3-3 draw at Stamford Bridge which leaves the champions' Premier League title defence in considerable doubt.

Chelsea took the lead through Frank Lampard's 23rd-minute penalty after James Collins brought down Florent Malouda in the area, but Ashley Young levelled with another penalty four minutes before half-time following a reckless tackle from Michael Essien on Nigel Reo-Coker.

Emile Heskey headed the visitors ahead two minutes into the second period before Didier Drogba drew Chelsea level with a deflected shot in the 84th minute.

The Blues snatched what they thought was a winner after John Terry found the back of the net in the 89th minute to put them 3-2 ahead.

But the joy was short-lived, with Clark stealing in completely unmarked at the back post to nod home a cool late equalizer.
