Adebayor scored eight goals in the 22 appearances during his temporary stay in the Spanish capital, but with Real bosses reportedly eyeing Sergio Agüero and Neymar this summer, no move has been made for the Togo international yet.

However, Adebayor insists he is willing to wait it out till the last hour of the transfer window for Real to come looking for him.

The 27-year-old told Marca: "I am waiting. I am clear about what I want. The only thing I have in my head is playing for Real Madrid.

"I am not going to sign for any club until August 31. I will wait for them until the very last day, until 11:00 at night. If by then, Madrid have decided not to buy me, then I will look for another team.

"José Mourinho told me he will do everything to bring me back and I am optimistic that a deal can be done.

"It bothers me to think I may never put on a Real Madrid shirt again. Madrid is the best thing that's ever happened to me in my life.

"On my last day working with the club, my team-mates demanded that I be brought back for next season. That was incredible.

"During my loan last season I scored eight goals and that is not a bad return. I think I completed my mission, but people in Madrid have not seen the true Adebayor. I can still do much better."
