Champions League: Chelsea 4-1 AET (agg 5-4) Napoli

Thursday, March 15, 2012

Serbia defender Branislav Ivanović scored a winner in extra time as Chelsea sealed a thrilling 4-1 win over Napoli and progressed to the last eight of the Champions League.

In a night of drama at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea roared into a 2-0 lead thanks to John Terry and Didier Drogba, erasing the 3-1 deficit from the first leg in Italy three weeks ago.

Gökhan İnler's spectacular half-volley gave Napoli the advantage once more before Frank Lampard's penalty leveled the thrilling tie on aggregate.

The game went into extra time and, right at the end of the first period, Drogba's superb turn and cross found Ivanović, who lashed the ball into the roof of the net.
