Real Madrid effectively sealed victory in the La Liga title race after a late Cristiano Ronaldo winner yielded a massive 2-1 against Barcelona in El Clásico at the Camp Nou.

The visitors took the lead after 17 minutes when Pepe's header was parried by Víctor Valdés but, as Carles Puyol struggled to get his legs free to clear, Sami Khedira poked the ball across the goalline to silence the home crowd.

Pep Guardiola then introduced Alexis Sánchez with 21 minutes left and one minute later the Chilean tapped in a rebound of a shot by Cristian Tello to give Barcelona some hope.

But Madrid responded with class as three minutes later a breathtaking Mesut Özil pass released Ronaldo, who charged past the onrushing Valdés and converted from a tricky angle to wrap up the win.
