Zaragoza missed a great chance to break the deadlock on 24 minutes when Carlos Aranda's spot-kick was saved by Víctor Valdés, but the striker made amends for his miss with the opener on the half hour mark.

But Barcelona drew level six minutes later through captain Carles Puyol and Lionel Messi grabbed the lead for good in the 39th minute with a brilliant individual effort.

Zaragoza played the second half a man down after Abraham Minero was sent off on the stroke of half-time and Messi scored from the spot four minutes from time and Pedro added a fourth in stoppage time to give Barça all three points.
