Premier League: Man United 4-0 Wigan

Manchester United moved into second in the Premier League with a 4-0 win over Wigan Athletic at Old Trafford with Paul Scholes scoring on his 700th appearance for the club.

Javier Hernández had a fourth-minute penalty saved by Ali Al-Habsi, but Scholes broke the deadlock six minutes into the second half following a bout of pinball in the box.

The home side doubled the lead on 63 minutes as shoddy defending allowed an unmarked Hernández to divert Alexander Büttner's misdirected shot home from the edge of the six-yard box.

Büttner then marked his debut with a goal three minutes later before Nick Powell came off the bench to make it 4-0 in the 82nd minute with another debut strike.
