Getafe defender Alexis was forced to leave the field during Thursday's Copa del Rey loss to Barcelona after he experienced an injury in, perhaps, the worst place possible.

The 28-year-old was carried off on a stretcher 36 minutes into the second leg following a bruising collision with a Barcelona player.

It was only when he got to the dressing room, though, that the doctors realised he'd suffered an injury to the testicles, with a suspected broken vein.

The gut-wrenching imagery also was confirmed by Getafe coach Luis García in Friday's press conference.

"One of Alexis's testicles was like this," he said while holding up his hands to show a handball-sized ball.

"He has broken some veins, but it's nothing serious. The swelling has already gone down and he should be fit for Sunday.

"I was shocked when I went into the dressing room. I've never seen anything like it."

Blackburn Rovers fans will remember how Scott Dann ruptured his testicle during a match in December 2011.
