The match at St. James' Park wasn't even a minute old when the referee fell to the floor in need of medical attention.

Foy was in the wrong place at the wrong time when Fabricio Coloccini blocked a shot from Jonjo Shelvey.

The ball flew straight in Foy's direction and hit him square in the face, causing the official fell straight backwards onto the floor.

The referee was left motionless on the floor for several seconds before being treated by Newcastle medical staff.

Foy managed to get back on his feet to officiate the match for another 30 minutes or so, but eventually had to be replaced by the fourth official Anthony Taylor.
