10-man Elche moved four points above the drop zone with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Málaga courtesy of a Garry Rodrigues wonderstrike.
Málaga and Elche both came into Saturday's match at the La Rosaleda desperate for three points and the security of knowing they will play in the La Liga next season.
Both sides came out aggressive, but it was the visitors who stepped up with Rodrigues scoring with his first goal of the season.

Alberto Botía was shown a straight red card for a professional foul on 84 minutes but Elche held on for all three points.
