Bellamy denies rift with Robinho

Monday, February 23, 2009

Manchester City striker Craig Bellamy has rejected rumours of a bust-up between himself and Robinho.

Reports on Sunday suggested the fiery Welshman was leading a players revolt against Robinho following a heated verbal spat between the two players after last week's defeat at Portsmouth.

Matters had apparently been boiling up for a while after City's players generally were reportedly unhappy with the Brazilian's failure to adhere to club rules, and his lenient treatment from club staff regarding disciplinary matter, which they regarded as unfair.

However, Bellamy forcefully denied any such spat this and admits controversy seems to follow him around.

"That is quite news to me," he told Sky Sports News.

"It is quite easy for my name to be dragged in.

"It is never the case and that is why I have sued 14 papers in one year.

"Come on let's get it right, it is very easy for my name (to be used). It is probably a paper I have sued three times already this year.

"I may have to look at doing that again, but why do I need to go down this route.

"It is part and parcel of this club and it has been part and parcel of my career unfortunately."
