French striker Karim Benzema is confident he can prove himself at Real Madrid in the new season.

Benzema struggled to live up to expectations last season after his big-money move from Olympique Lyon, and he has found himself behind Gonzalo Higuaín in the pecking order.

However, the 22-year-old is ready to get over his disappointing debut season and has pledged to lead the Spanish giants to glory.

Benzema told the club's official website: "I have forgotten about everything that happened last year.

"I am convinced that I am going to score a lot of goals. I am headstrong and I will work hard to help my team with titles.

"Last season was very difficult for me because it was the first time I played outside my own country. My family and I are now much more adjusted to the city. I am happy to be here."
